The Honda e is one of the most exiting cars to come out of the Tokyo based company in years. Honda plans to make 100% of its European automobile sales electrified by 2025, and the e is going to be a big part of that.
While the Honda e has not been released yet, pre-orders are open for certain regions, so we thought we would do a complete buyer’s guide on this exciting little car.
How to Use This Honda e Buyer’s Guide
We have broken this buyer’s guide up into a number of sections that cover different topics. Use the table of contents below to skip to the section you want to read.
History of the Honda e
Honda first gave the world a glimpse of the company’s electric future when it unveiled the Urban EV Concept at the 2017 International Motor Show in Germany. One month later, the Sports EV Concept was displayed at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The Urban EV is built on an entirely new platform and the exterior design of the concept pays homage to the first generation Honda Civic. It is about the same length as a Honda Fit and features rear-hinged suicide doors.
On the inside the Urban EV can fit four adults with the front passengers seated on a single bench seat. The dashboard features food trim with a long digital screen as the instrument and infotainment panel. Instead of using more traditional side-mirrors, Honda decided to fit side-view cameras to the Urban EV that improve efficiency and visibility.
The Production Honda e Appears
In February 2019, Honda unveiled a pre-production version of the Honda e. They would then go on to show the production version of the car at the Geneva Motor Show in March, where they announced it would be named the “Honda e”.
